A Texas CPA who explains your taxes in Nepali or Hindi

US tax rules are hard enough in your first language. We explain your return, your books and any IRS letter in Nepali, Hindi or English — and a licensed CPA does the work.

Who we help

  • Families and individuals filing their first US tax return
  • Owners of restaurants, stores, gas stations, trucking and other small businesses
  • People who earn income, own property or hold bank accounts in Nepal or India as well as in the US
  • Anyone with an IRS letter they want explained in their own language

Common questions from new arrivals

Which income does the US tax? US citizens and US tax residents report their worldwide income, including income earned in Nepal or India. A foreign tax credit can reduce double tax where tax was paid abroad. The US has an income tax treaty with India, but not with Nepal.

Am I a US tax resident? Green card holders are. Others become tax residents under the substantial presence test, which counts the days you were in the US this year and the two years before. The answer decides which return you file.

Do I have to report bank accounts abroad? If the combined balance of your foreign accounts was over $10,000 at any time in the year, you file an FBAR (FinCEN Form 114). Larger foreign assets may also need Form 8938 with your return. The penalties for missing these are high, so ask before you file.

Questions

Can we talk in Nepali?

Yes. Calls and meetings can be in Nepali, Hindi or English, whichever you prefer.

Do I need to report my house or land in Nepal?

Owning property abroad is not itself reported on an FBAR, but rent you receive from it is income on your US return, and selling it can be a taxable gain. Tell us about it and we will tell you what applies.
